Latvian Sport for All Association is announcing that registration is currently open for INWA World Nordic walking cup in Riga that will take place on 9th of July 2022.

Vecāķi (where the competition will take place) is a nice seaside area (where you can enjoy walks both on the beach and in the fores). It is more peaceful than popular Jurmala, but still very much loved by Riga residents as it can be easily reached by car / train / bus (just 20 km away from Riga).

The track will be in the pine forest.

THE VENUE – Vecāķi forest, beginning of Mangaļu prospekts

2 minutes srom railway station “Vecāķi” (from railway station taking Pludmales Street,  then turning to  Mangaļu prospekts and straight).

From Riga to Vecāķi there is excellent railway connection (timetable available on https://www.pv.lv/lv/vilcienu-kustibas-saraksti/). Duration of the journey ~ 25 min

We advise to use this option, as in this case you won’t need to worry about parking.

E.g. on 9 th of July here are some options for train:

10:09 (Rīga) – 10:35 (Vecāķi)
10:37 (Rīga) – 11:02 (Vecāķi)
11:07 (Rīga) – 11:33 (Vecāķi)

From busstop “Centrāla stacija” (Central station) (accross the road from Riga Central market) (Riga) stops bus Nr 24, but time of the journey is signifficantly longer – around ~ 1 hour (you need to get off the bus at the stop “Pagrieziens uz Mangaļsalu”  and then walk 15 minutes to the venue).

Participants that are going by car, can park in Vecāķi using Rīgas Satiksme parkings (from 8 AM to 8 PM fee for the whole day is 2 EUR). Parking is located e.g. on Pludmales iela, Kāpu prospekts, Garciema iela.

!! Please pay attention, that in summer season these parkings are often crowded by locals, so our advise is to make sure you have enough time to search for the parking and park.
